Thema:
“Eliciting Textual Data from Psychological Study Participants”
Abstract:
The standard approach to collect data for supervised training of NLP models is to have annotators label existing texts. For some concepts, particular those which correspond to states of a text author, external annotators might not be able to reliably reconstruct labels. Therefore, such labels would need to be elicited from the authors themselves. We present a set of studies in which we conduct data acquisition by eliciting text data through psychological studies (for emotions, coping, motivation, intend, and deception) and discuss advantages and disadvantages of such approach. We report particularly on an ongoing study on multimodal emotion labels of social media posts and compare the creation of artificial created posts in contrast to donated real posts.
